Polymarket has partnered with Evie (“0xgingergirl” on X), a prominent influencer and content creator focused on bringing more women into the prediction market industry.

“I came into prediction markets with a tweet, writing about how we need more women in prediction markets and more women’s interest-based markets. That was my mission from day one, and it still is–unlocking the untouched 50% of the TAM [total addressable market].”

Women make up an estimated 10-15% of prediction market traders. Evie is part of a growing group of individuals dedicated to creating a welcoming space for more women to join.

Her content delivers a comedic blend of female empowerment, prediction market insights, and pop culture commentary that appeals to a broad audience, and especially to women. Evie’s Polymarket partnership announcement video parodying a classic scene from Legally Blonde is a prime example.

How Polymarket partnership came to be

Evie has quickly become a prominent figure in the online prediction market community, catching Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan’s attention early on with her witty, engaging content.

“I remember when I just had maybe 200 followers and started writing about women in [prediction markets]. Shayne reached out to me and asked ‘How can we help,’ saying that he loves my content. It immediately showed me that even though I am a nobody in the space, he, as a founder of a very big company, really cares about this and cares about the people who love [prediction markets].”

Evie is currently building a platform, XO Live, that allows viewers of a live stream to participate in a built-in prediction market on the event. She’s beginning with a dating show, but the company could expand to other streams as well.

Prediction markets are a community

One of the features that make prediction markets so communal is the belief in the impact impartial forecasting can have on combatting misinformation. The original crypto community used to be insular, but prediction markets come with a social mission attached–whether one subscribes to it or not.

“I didn’t know much about the [crypto] industry, so I was trying to outsource help. Every crypto guy I met told me that I’m not made for this and if I don’t know it, I shouldn’t work in it. I should just stick to Web2. And that’s what I did…”

In contrast, when Evie seeks out information prediction markets, she finds enthusiastic members of the community open to both her questions and her push to bring more women into the space.

“I get answers, traders are willing to help me, boost me, support not only my social media but also my journey as a trader,” Evie wrote. “They understand that they need women. That’s why they ask for my opinions.”

Even though many prediction market users are also crypto enthusiasts, there is a unique character to the prediction market community. Differences within it are visible in part in how influencers have divided themselves between Kalshi and Polymarket.

Influencers are choosing sides: Polymarket or Kalshi

Evie’s partnership with Polymarket is part of a larger push by both Kalshi and Polymarket to scoop up influencers, especially within the crypto space. Kalshi partnered with crypto influencer John Wang who is now the company’s Head of Crypto. “PredictionMarketTrader,” a popular live streamer in the prediction market community, has also partnered with Kalshi.

Polymarket has partnered with other accounts as well, like “wale.moca” and “SHL0MS“. These accounts have been active in the crypto community for a long time and still find value in Polymarket being on-chain.

There’s an internal argument within the prediction market community about whether prediction markets should be built on blockchain or whether TradFi platforms are appropriate and acceptable. Some crypto users want the anonymity and privacy of the industry to extend to prediction markets, which were popular crypto products long before they began commanding mainstream attention.

With Polymarket just now set to re-enter the US market, the arms race is only just beginning between these two juggernauts. Kalshi and Polymarket are competing for partnerships and integrations with social media influencers, AI technology, and brokerages. They are also competing for influence within the crypto space, which is primed to play a massive role in future growth of regulated U.S. markets.
